On Sunday, 18 October 2026, the streets of Cape Town came alive with thousands of runners united by a shared purpose: celebrating the life, values and enduring legacy of Nelson Mandela.
Among them were 36 proud Presidential Shirt team members, taking on the 5km, 10km and 21km distances at the inaugural Nelson Mandela Marathon 2026. For our team, the day was about much more than running. It was an opportunity to challenge ourselves, encourage one another and put into action the values that have shaped Presidential Shirt since its beginnings in 1994.
Different distances. Different personal challenges. One shared commitment to making a positive difference.
36 Presidential Team Members Running for Good Values
The Nelson Mandela Marathon was created around six values that defined Madiba's leadership: dignity, courage, justice, equality, solidarity and freedom.
These values were reflected in the spirit of the event, which brought together people of different ages, abilities and backgrounds under the inspiring message:
Rise. Remember. Run.
Our 36 Presidential runners embraced that spirit wholeheartedly.
Some took on the 5km, others challenged themselves over 10km, while our half-marathon runners tackled the demanding 21km course.
Every distance represented an achievement. Every participant had a personal challenge to overcome. And every step was an expression of commitment, determination and team spirit.
What made the occasion particularly special was seeing our colleagues come together outside their usual working environment, supporting and encouraging one another.
Because success is not always measured by how quickly we cross the finish line. Sometimes, it is measured by the courage to begin, the perseverance to continue and the willingness to lift others along the way.
Presidential Shirt Proudly Supporting the Nelson Mandela Marathon
As an official retail partner of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Presidential Shirt was delighted to participate in this landmark event.
Our involvement extended beyond the running routes. Throughout the marathon celebrations, Presidential Shirt was represented at the event exhibition at Cape Town's historic Grand Parade, where we had the opportunity to connect with participants, supporters and visitors.
Our exhibition showcased our proudly South African brand, its heritage and its longstanding association with Nelson Mandela.
It was a wonderful opportunity to meet people from different walks of life, all brought together by their admiration for Madiba and the values he stood for.
For Presidential Shirt, being part of such an occasion was both a privilege and a reminder of the responsibility that comes with our brand's history.
