It is that time of the year again for the annual “Friends of Madiba” benefit dinner. This initiative was started by Vis and Mona Naidoo, a Joburg couple who are committed to fulfil Madiba’s legacy – to build the country of our dreams. In 2016, this dinner, where Presidential Shirt was the headline sponsor, was held as a fundraising event for the Trek4Mandela Kilimanjaro expedition to support the Caring4Girls program.  The expedition and program, both driven by The Imbumba Foundation, and endorsed by The Nelson Mandela Foundation, raises awareness of the plight of girls in poor communities who miss approximately 50 days of school per year as they cannot afford sanitary protection. The funds that were raised from the dinner last year has enabled 1000 girls to be provided with sanitary pads for a 12 month period in 2017.

Due to the success of this event last year, Richard Mabaso, the founder of Imbumba, decided to make it an annual event. This year, the “Friends of Madiba” benefit dinner which is supported again by Presidential Shirt, will also raise funds for the Imbumba Foundation’s Vision 20/20 program. Vision 20/20 delivers self-leadership training to school learners to inspire them to have a personal vision bigger than themselves.

Join us at the dinner, and take this opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and give a child the opportunity to enjoy a basic right – education with dignity, and the opportunity to develop our future leaders. Let’s stand up together as empowered citizens and corporates of this country and build the country of our dreams by investing in and empowering the children of our country.
